Our Green Future
We are a member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and as such we are committed to good environmental practice and sustainable development.
We meet the minimum legal requirements related to environmental protection and waste disposal and aim to minimise our impact and maximise the positive aspects that we have on the environment.
We support sustainable tourism through activities in economic social and environmental issues. We are demonstrating our commitment in practice through the following activities:
- Maintaining an historical botanical glass house for the public
- Recycling paper, card, glass and cans
- Using low energy lighting in our offices and facilities
- Installing aerator percussion taps in our toilets
- Selling Fairtrade products as refreshments at our Trust events
- Achieving a green pennant award for our work at Sefton Park Palm House
- Providing facilities for cyclists
You can help us in our endeavours by:
- Coming to one of our RSPB birdwatch events
- Asking us to host a green event or reception
- Adopting green practices at home
- Becoming involved in our sponsorship programme
The above are just a small sample of the good practices being undertaken to minimise our damage to our planet and we regularly review and seek to improve on this. They are some of the 120 measures which make up the Green Tourism Business Award www.green-business.co.uk.
